Doubt
Director: John Patrick Shanley
USA 2008 Drama
In a Catholic Church in the Bronx in 1964 the new cheerfully modern
and popular priest (Philip Seymour Hoffman) is on a collision course
with an austere traditionalist nun Sister Aloysius (Meryl Streep).
Flynn is a kindly man, popular with his congregation.
But Sister Aloysius is convinced he is taking sexual advantage of
children and is determined to bring him down.
“…a provocative, pared-down work from a Pulitzer-prizewinning play.
… it has four outstanding performances and marvellous work by British
cinematographer Roger Deakins”.
